By Adjournment same day

Resolved that Mr Rogers be discontinued at Christmas next as
Clerk of the Works at the New House of Correction and that he do forthwith get
in the Workmens Bills and settle them before that time, and that Mr Rogers
have immediate notice.

Resolved that it be referred to the Prison Committee to inquire into the
state of the Ground adjacent to the House of Correction and of the future disposal
thereof and Report their opinion thereon to the Court.

It having been stated to the Court that the Surgeon and Apothecary belongg.
to the Prisons does not Attend the Prisons so regularly as the Court
expected he should do. Resolved that the Apothecary do enter his Name
in the Book kept at the Prison for that purpose wherever he attends at
either of the said Prisons.

The Book kept at the New House of Correction containing the Report of
the visiting Magistrates since the last Session being read, Resolved that
the thanks of the Court be given to Dr. Glasse and William Bleamire< no role > Esqr for
their care and attention and that they be requested to continue to visit the
Prison till the next Session.

Mr. Harding being called in admitted that he had received some
Money for the Ground let by him adjoining the New House of Correction : That
his Predecessors had made a little perquisite of it: That he had received for
3 years of Godson at Four Shillings P Week £30: That he has received
from Thomas Borrodale £6 P Annum £12. and that he has not received
any thing of Ashton. And that he has not accounted for the Money or any
part thereof and that he is unable to repay the same: Resolved that he
do forthwith deliver in an Account of the Letting, of the Rent received, of
what is due, and from whom it is payable.

Resolved that the consideration of Mr. Burchells Application for
an Allowance to be made to him as County Treasurer on Account of extra
trouble occasioned to him by means of the Militia Act be postponed till the
Adjournment day of the present Session.
