That having taken unto Consideration the Order of refere [..]
to them made at the General Quarter Session of the peace holden in and
for the said County at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street on Thursday [..]
Thirtieth day of April 1778 Vizt. "A Bill of Mr. William Chetham< no role >
"Attorney at Law for business done by him for and by order of his Majes [..]
"Justices of the peace for the County of Middlesex in Sessions assembled
"amounting to £170..4s..11d being laid before this Court It is Orde [..]
"that William Mainwaring< no role > John Spencer< no role > Colepeper Jeremiah
"Bentham
< no role > John Sherwood< no role > David Wilmot< no role > and Jonathan Chadwe [..]
"Durden Esquires Justices of the peace for the said County of Middlesex
"or any three of them be and they are hereby appointed a Committ [..]
"to examine the said Bill and the several Charges therein and to consid [..]
"out of what fund belonging to the said Justices the same can be paid [..]
"report their Opinion thereof to the Court on the County day of the next
"Session and the said Committee are empowered to call for persons pap [..]
"and Vouchers" they examined the said Bill and considered the
several Articles therein contained and having heard Mr. Chetham
respecting the same are of Opinion that the last charge of Forty Two
pounds in the said Bill ought not to be allowed and there being [..]
Articles in the said Bill which appear to them to be overcharged
and some charges which they conceive cannot properly be made Y [..]
Committee are of Opinion that the Sum of Four Hundred and
Twenty Pounds would be a pair and reasonable Satisfaction for the
business appearing by the said Bill to have been done by Mr Cheth [..]
But in regard that Six Years are Elapsed scorie the business compri [..]
therein was done and it being alledged that Mr. Chetham had
actually advanced the Sum of Two hundred and Thirty Nine
Pounds Sixteen Shillings and Seven pence out of his pocke [..]
in carrying on the same Your Committee Submit whether
some further allowance ought not to be made to Mr. Chetham
on Account of the great length of time the said Sum of Four hu [..]
and Twenty Pounds has been due

Your Commitee Further Report

That it appearing by an Item in Mr. Chetham
Bill that Twelve Pounds Sixteen Shillilngs is charged for the
Copies of the Arguments of all the Counsel with the Opinion of the
