House of Commons to whom the Bill was referred during their sitting
but the Committee having objected to the Clause last abovementioned
he with the advice of some Members of the Haymarket Committee
submitted to them the following Clause Vizt. Provided
"always that nothing in this Act shall Extend to alter abridge
"or repeal any of the Powers or Authorities vested in his Majestys Justices
"of the Peace for the County of Middlesex and City and Liberty of Westmr .
"by the respective Acts of Parliament of the 8th and 9th of his late Majesty
"King William the Third or the 31st. of the late King in respect to
"their Interest in or controul over the Carriage way of the street commonly
"called the St. James Haymarket or the Market therein held" and the
same being accepted by the Committee was inserted in the Bill by
order of the Committee of the House of Commons but the Bill after
having passed the House of Commons was with drawn by order of
the Commissioners of paving under an intention of offering it again [..]
to Parliament in the Course of the next Session

A motion was whereupon made that this court do approve
of this part of the said Committees Report and being agreed to the Same
was resolved accordingly and immediately afterwards the following
Gentlemen pledged themselves in like manner as aforesaid to
subscribe such Sum of Money as is placed against their respective
names for the purpose of defraying the Expence of such opposition as
aforesaid

The said Committee further Report that in pursuance
of the order of Court made on the 23d day of May last empowering
the Committee forthwith ti repave so much of the Haymarket within
the Jurisdiction of the Justices as is described in the Act of Parliamt.
made in the 8th and 9th Years of the Reign of King William the Third
and contract with the Requisite workmen for the performance of the
same
