Peace for the County of Middlesex appointed to
oppose all Attempts in Parliament that may affe [..]
the Interest of this County in the St. James's Hay [..]
or deprive the Justices of their Contract which for the
benefit of the Public they have over the some and [..]
give such orders As may be necessary to enforce the
Laws relative there to and to pursue the Speediest
and most effectual methods to promote and Secure
the Interest of the County therein and also for repair [..]
so much of the Haymarket within the Jurisdiction
of the Justices as is described in the Acts of Pa [..]
made in the 8th. & 9th. Years of the Reign of King
William the Third and contract with the requ [..]
Workmen for the Performance of the same and
all other matters and things in the Execution the [..]
as shall be fit and necessary

The said Committee Report That in pursuance
the Order of Reference to this Committee Vizt. To oppose all attempt
in Parliament that may effect the Interest of this County in the
St James Haymarket or deprive the Justices of their Controul
which for the benefit of the Public they have over the same and tog [..]
such orders as may be necessary to enforce the Laws relative the [..]
and to pursue the Speediest and most effectual Methods to pro [..]
and some the Interest of the County therein made on the 23d day
February last the said Committee took an Accurate View of the
Haymarket with the assistance of the County Surveyor and [..]
Meredith an experienced Paviour and found the Pavement
thereof in a very indifferent State wherefore they ordered the
Surveyor to make an Exact mensuration of the same who
having Reported that it contained 1959 square Yards the
Committee desired Mr. Rogers and Mr. Meredith to make a [..]
precise Calculation of what was necessary to be done in thereof [..]
of the said street and of the Expence thereof And also what un [..]
be the Cost of repairing the whole in a good and Substantial [..]
in consequence of which Mr Rogers delivered in the following
Estimates Vizt. That to repair the pavement of the said streets
it out ti be done by the Contractor would amount to £304 [..]
and that to repave the same would Cost £482..8..6 who [..]
the Committee desired Mr. Davis the Executor to the Contract
to attend and having informed him that upon an Inspection
the Haymarket it had been found in a very bad condition and
that the same ought now to be repaired in a good and Substa [..]
manner and having asked him whether he would forthwith
repair the same under the direction of the Justices Surveyor
