proceed in the rebuilding
of Brentford Bridge , and
for the County Treasurer to
advance & pay money to

Whereas It hath been Resolved by the Court of the sessions of
the peace for this County that a publick Bridge called Brentford
Bridge in the Said County, the Same being in great decay &
very ruinous Should be new built with Stone and bricks and
with three arches So that there Should be Sufficient room
under Such arches to carry off the water comeing down the
River Brent over which the new Bridge is to be built in
Stead of the present Bridge, And whereas by an Order made
at the last General Quarter Sessions of the peace holden for
the Said County by adjornment on the Ninth day of April
last It was recomended and referred unto the Committee of
his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for this County for transacting
matters relating to the rebuilding or repairing the publick
Bridges of the Said County therein named or any three of
them to meet together from time to time concerning
the new building the aforesaid Bridge, And to consider
about purchaseing Some ground lyeing near the Said
Bridge , which, if obtained,might be of publick benefit,
In regard the new Bridge to be built, in Stead of the
present Bridge which is crooked, might be erected over the
River Brent in a Streight & direct line, which would be
more comodious to the publick, And to treat with the
proprietor or proprietors of the Said Ground in order to
purchase the Same And to know what consideration would
be accepted for Such purchase, And also to proceed in Settleing
the Articles with the workmen for new building the
Said Bridge, Now upon information given unto this
Court by Several Gentleman of the Said Committee That
a Quorum of the Same Committee have met together
touching the matters to them referred by the Said Order
and that they received proposalls from Mr. William
Butler about purchaseing of him Some ground and
houses on this side the River Brent and also from Mr.
Robert Kidwell< no role > about purchaseing of him Some other
ground & premisses on the other Side of the Said River
which might be necessary for rebuilding the Said
Bridge in a Streight line, And that the Said William
Butler doth ask for his whole estate before mentioned
