Discharged on making up his Accounts and paying the Ballance
to Mr. Higgs the General Treasurer And it appeared to the Said
Committee that the Ballance in his hands received Since the
Report of the House of Comons from the Tenants of the County
Estate Amounts to £162,,16s,,0d which he had paid over at Several
times to Mr. Higgs & Mr. Higgs acknowledged the Receipt of that
Sum, Mr. Higgs then produced his Receipts and Payments under
the Head of County rents, by the Report of the Committee of the
House of Commons it appeared the Sessions was on that Head
Indebted to Mr. Higgs in the Sum of £22,,2s,,7d he has since
expended by Several Orders of Sessions the Sum of £108,,9s,,10d for
which he produced Vouchers So that being allowed the Sum of
£22,,2d,,7s. due to him formerly as appears by the Said Report and
what he has Disbursed making together the Sum of £130,,12s,,2d
and which being Deducted out of the Sum of £162,,16s,,0d by him
reced of Mr. Wilkinson there remains in his hands at present
under the Article of County rents the Sum of £32,,3s,,10d and which
he admitted, this Account is made up to Lady day last-The Said
Committee are of Opinion this Account ought to be Kept Still
Separate and the money reced under this head ought not to be
thrown into the General Account It not being the Intent of the
Act of Parliament it Should be So as they Apprehend, and this
money being more Particularly under the Direction of the
Sessions & may be applyed to the Repairs of Hicks hall for Coals
or on Such Occasions for the benefit of the County and Sessions
The Said Committee then Proceeded to take the Account of
money raised for the Relief of Mained Soldiers & Marriners, by
the Report of the Honble. House of Commons the Ballance in the
Hands of Jacob Harvey< no role > Esqrs . then Treasurer at the time of the
Said Report amounted to £152,,3s,,5d. Since that it appears Mr.
Harvey Disbursed to Several Maimed Soldiers and Marriners
the Sum of £112,,10s (the Sum of £2,,10s part thereof having
been by him Disbursed in the year 1736) and which Account
had been Audited and Setled from time to time by Several of [..]
Majestys's Justices of the peace for this County and has been Allowed
and Signed by them as appeared to the Said Committee to
whom the Said Book and Accounts was produced at the time
of the last Selling the Ballance in Mr. Harveys hands
amounted to the Sum of £42,,3s,,5d. which he then paid over
to Mr. Higgs and which Sum Mr. Higgs admitted to the Said
Committee he had received, It appears by the [..] Report of
the Committee of the Honourable House of Commons that
there was at the time in Mr. Higgs hands on this Head the
