Plank are laying down, Nay in Case of Absolute
Necessity; it may be done & preserve a passage over
of 9 Feet Wide all the While: but I do not take this to
be the case here, & Jouly mention it to Shew with
how much Less Inconveniency any future Repairs
may be done; as in no cass Requiring the floor of
the Bridge
to be taken up quite a Cross.
The Scantlings for these frames I propose to be as followes
The Posts12Ins. by 12Ins.
The Plates above & below14Ins. by 12Ins.
The Braces12Ins. by 8Ins.
For ye floor
The Joysts 12 in Number
in ye Breadth of ye Bridge}12 Ins. by 10 Ins.
The Planking4 Inches thick
And all the other Scantlings of ye Posts & Rails, Braces &
foot Bridge Etc. to be nearly what they are at present.
With ye Liberty of making use of 97 Feet of ye present
railing of the Bridge
which is almost new, & ye upper
part of 5 of the Piles which are also new, this bridge
may be Rebuilt in a workmanlike manner, & of the
Best Materials for five Hundred & Ninety Seven
Pounds
