Order for confirming a
Report touching repaires
wanting & necessary to be
done to Hicks Hall, and
touching the agreeing
to do the Same for a
Sum certain, and to
inquire concerning debts
already incurred for
repairs done thereto, Etc

Whereas Nathaniel Blackerby< no role > Esqr . Sr . Edward Hill< no role > Knt.
Nicholas Jeffreys< no role > and Richard Farwell< no role > Esqrs . Justices of the peace
for the County of Middx being a Quorum of the Committee
of his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace of the Said County
appointed by an Order made in December Session last to
inquire what debts are already incurred for repaired done
at Hicks Hall , and to whom the Same are due or ought to
be paid, and if any, and what further repaires are
requisite & necessary to the done to the Said Hall, and
how the expences of the said repaires already done or to
be done might be provided for have by their-Report
in writing dated this eighteenth day of January
instant Certifyed unto this Court That they have
considered of Some of the matters to them referred
by the Said Order, And are of opinion that the Court
where the Justices Sit in Sessions should be painted
and white washed, and that the Cielings of the Great
Dining Room and the other Dining Room next
adjoyning thereto and also the Stair Case leading up
thereto should be likewise white washed, And that the
Tiling over the Roof of Hicks Hall and the Officers in
the Court Yard Should be mended where the Same is
defective, and that the gutters shoulds be cleansed and
the lead mended where defective, and also that the
pavement of the Area Should be now laid so as to carry
off the water which by the late House keeper's alteration
is thrown into the Offices of the Clerks of the Indictments,
And what the expences thereof will amount to they
have not had time to estimate, And the said Committee
by their Said Report further Certify That as to the other
matters mentioned in the Said Order concerning what
debts are already incurred for repaires done at Hicks
hall, and to whom the Same are due or ought to be
paid, and how the expences of the repairs may be
provided for they have not as yet considered of the
Same, Now upon reading the Said Report It is Ordered by
this Court that So much of the Said Report as doth relate to
the painting, white washing, and doing the repaires
abovementioned be and the Same is hereby ratifyed
