Order concerning the making
a Presentment at the next
Quarter Sessions that
Brentford Bridge
is out of
repaire Etc}
This Court having received Information from
James Clitherow< no role >
Esqr
. one of his Maties Justices of the peace
for this County residing
within New Brentford
Division in the Same County concerning
the decay of a publick Bridge called Brentford Bridge
within the
parish of Hanwell
in the Said County, which is out of repaire
& hath been usually and ought to be repaired at the charge
of the Inhabitants of the Same County, and that there is a
necessity of repairing the Same Speedily to prevent farther
mischeife It is Ordered by this Court that it be and It is hereby
recomended to the Said Mr. Clitherow that he will please to
take proper care that an Account in writing of the defect of
repaires wanting & necessary to be done to the Said Bridge
and of the
[..] charge of the doing Such repaires and of
finding & providing gravel & other proper materials for
that purpose be delivered by Some Skilfull person or persons
upon his or their Oath to the Grand Jury at the next General
Quarter Session of the peace for this County, who are to
examine such person or persons touching the truth of the
premisses and (if they find Sufficient Cause) to make a
Presentment thereof to the Court at the Same Session, in Order
that a Rate may be made upon the respective parishes
hamlets & places in this County for the raiseing of money
to defray the expences of repairing the Said Bridge and of
finding & providing gravel & other proper materials for
that purpose.
