The Affaire of a General Treasurer for the County of Middx for
receiving & paying of publick money belonging to this County, comeing
on to be considered & debated at this present sessions, This Court upon
consideraton had of the same Is of opinion And doth declare that noe
Justice of the peace of this County be appointed General Treasurer of the
said County, And that it is requisite that such person who shall be
appointed Generall Treasurer doe give security to three of his Maties
Justices of the peace for thethis County to account Annually or oftner
if required for the publick money by him received, and to make
payment of the moneys to be by him received as General
Treasurer to such person or persons and in such manner as he
shall be required by any Order or Orders of General Quarter or
Generall Sessions of the peace for this County to be in such behalfe
made, And that a Yearly Salary be allowed such Treasurer for
his trouble and paines therein, And this Court being of opinion
that a General Treasurer should be forthwith appointed Doth
thereupon elect nominate and appoint John Higgs< no role > of Barnard's
Inn London Gentl to be General Treasurer of this County of
Middx to receive such Sume and Sumes of money as shall be in
the hands of any particular TreasurerTreasurer or Treasurers of moneys
raised or to be raised by vertue of any publick Rate or Rates made or
to be made by the Court of General Quarter or General Sessions of
the peace for this County and which shall be Ordered by the
Court of sessions to be paid by any such particular Treasurer or
Treasurers unto him the said John Higgs< no role > , And also to receive all
such other Sume and Sumes of money as shall be directed by any
Order of sessions to be paid into his hands which Sume & Sumes
of money to be received by the said John Higgs< no role > as aforesaid are to
be by him paid & disposed of to such person & persons and in such
manner as the Court of General Quarter or General Sessions of
the peace for this County shall in that behalfe Order & appoint,
And this Court doth further Order that the said John Higgs< no role > doe
deliver his Account or Accounts Annually or oftner if required,
of the money to be by him received as aforesaid and of his
payments and disbursments out of the same unto the Court of
General Quarter or General Sessions of the peace for this County or
such person or persons as shall by such Court be appointed in
that behalf to audite & adjust the same, And fairly enter such
Account or Accounts (after the same shall be audited & adjusted)
in a book or books to be left with & kept by the Clerk of the
peace of this County for the use of the Justices of the peace of the
