of the Office of High Constable within the Same Hundred.

Order touching the
refuseing of licences to
Several Sorts of persons who
Sell beer, ale Etc}

Informacon being given unto this Court that Several persons in
this County who sell beer, ale, brandy and other distilled liquors by
retail doe Suffer divers disorders to be comitted in the houses or
places wherein they retail the Same, (vizt.)

Such persons as keep cellars for the Selling of beer, ale, brandy
and other distilled liquors, and are not Housekeepers,

Persons keeping houses in Alleys (and not in publick Streets)
for the retaleing thereof,

Persons haveing back doors to their houses (where the
Buildings are contiguous) in the Towne comonly called
the Suburbs of London and out of the Freedome of the Same
And persons who are frequently Bayle and deemed to be
comon Bayle for persons Indicted or charged with
misdemeanors , (a lift of such persons being now laid
before this Court

It is Ordered by this Court that it be And It is hereby recomended
unto his Maties Justices of the peace for this County acting in
the Several Divisions in the Said County to be assembled at
the General Meetings to be holden within the respective
Divisions in the Said County for the granting of Licences to
Innkeepers , Ale house keepers, & Retailers of Brandy and other
distilled liquors, not to grant licences for that purpose to
any Such persons who permitt disorders to be comitted or
who are frequently Bayle or deemed to be comon Bayleas
aforesaid.

Warden Carpenter for
repairing & Strengthening
New Prison .

Informacon being given unto this Court by William
Cotesworth Simon Mitchell< no role > and Robert Tothill< no role > Esqrs . three of
his Maties Justices of the peace for this County being a
Committee appointed by Order of Court made in May Sessions
last to Cause his Maties Goal of New Prison at Clerkenwell in the
Said County to be repaired & Strengthened in the Weak parts of
the Same, Soe as the escape of prisoners comitted or to be comitted
thither might be thereby hundred that they had employed
Paul Warden< no role > Carpenter to doe the Said repaires, And that he had
repaired and Strengthened the aforesaid prison in Order to
prevent the escape of prisoners by Carpenters work Bricklayers
work and Iron work done to the same, And that the Sume of
fifteen pounds and Six Shillings is due to the Said Paul Warden
for the Said Workes and the materialsforused in about the
doing thereof, It is Ordered by this Court that the said
