County of Middx: Assembled at their Generall
Sessions of the peace held for the said County.

appointed to view
Chertsea bridge

} Whereas at a Generall Quarter Sessions of the peace of Our Lord
the King hold for the County of Middx at Hicks Hall in St. John
Street in the said County by Adjournment on Tuesday the 19th Day of
April in the Twelfth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George
King of Great Britain Etc Upon Information given unto the said
Court that such part of a publick Bridge called Chertsea Bridge as is
in this County is very much Damnified by the Floods which happened
the last Winter, one of the Arches thereof being broken down, and that
the aforesaid part of the said Bridge is in Great Decay for want of
Repair, and that it is very Requisite and necessary that the same
should be forthwith Repaired and that it will Cost a Considerable
Sum of Money to Repair and amend the same, It was thought
fitt and Ordered by the Court that it should be and it was thereby
recomended and Referred unto Sr. Isaac Tillard< no role > Knt ., James
Clitherow , William Cotesworth Senr . John Ellis< no role > , Thomas West< no role >
Philip Willshire< no role > , and Nicholas Bland< no role > Esqrs Justices of the peace
for this County or any three of them, as a Comittee to take to their
Assistance some Engineer or such able Workmen, as they should
think fitt, and to take a view of such parts of Chertsea Bridge
aforesaid as is in this County, and to see if the same is out of the Repair,
and if any and what Repairs are wanting and necessare, to be
Done thereto, and if it should appear upon such View that the same
is out of Repair, then to make an Estimate of what it will Cost to
Repair the same, and to treat with Workmen touching the
Repair thereof, And to Certify an Accompt of their proceedings,
with their Opinion in Writing touching the premises, as soon as
may be to the Court of Generall or Quarter Sessions of the peace,
to be holden for this County, to the End such further Order may be
made as the Court shall think Just.

In pursuance of which said Order Wee whose names are
subscribed being three in Number of the [..] eferrees in the said Order
named, together with William Ogbourne< no role > Esqr and severall able
Workmen (well Recomended and Capable of performing the said
Works,) have taken a View of the said Bridge, and Do find the same
to be much Damaged by the Great Floods last Winter, and so very
