unlawfull Assemblys of
Loose idle & disorderly

Upon complaint made unto this Court by severall of the
Inhabitants of Lincolns Inn Fields in the Parish of St.
Giles in the fields in this County that great Numbers of loose
idle and disorderly Persons do daily assemble & meet together
in Lincolns Inn fields aforesaid, some on pretence of
Wrestling, others to play at Cudgells, others to throw
at Cocks, and others on pretence of useing Divers Games
(which are prohibited by Law) and defraud Severall of
his Majestys [..] Subjects of their Money, and that divers
others of them [..] frequently gallop and ride Horses cross the
foot paths & highways there without any reall occasion for
so doing, and that great disorders and disturbances are
comitted by such loose idle & disorderly by Persons Soe
assembling as aforesaid to the great terror & disturbance
of his Majestys Subjects passing through the said fields upon
their lawfull occasions and of the Inhabitants resideing
in Lincolns Inn fields aforesaid, And that such Persons
assemble in such great Numbers and committ such disorders
that the severall Constables of the said Parish who
have been required by Warrants from severall Justices
of the Peace for this County to disperse them have been
Severall times Assaulted in the Execution of their Office,
and have complained that they are not able to suppress them
For remedy whereof It is thought Fit and ordered, by this Court
that the High Constables of Holborn Division in this County
for the time being do take to his assistance the severall
Petty Constables and Headboroughs within his Division
or such a Number of them as he shall think sufficient,
And that the said High Constable Petty Constables and
Headboroughs do from time to time disperse such unlawfull
Assemblys, and apprehend all such Persons whom they shall
find offending in the Premisses or committing such like offences
in Bloomsbury Square or in any other part of Holborne
Division aforesaid, and carry them before some or one of
his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for this County to the end
they may be proceeded against for the same according to Law,
And this Court doth declare this Order to be a Standing Order,
And doth Esquire that the said High Constable and the Petty
Constables and Headboroughs within Holborne Division
aforesaid do from time to time hereafter well and truely
Observe and performe the same,
