Session of Gaol Delivery
of Newgate for London}

John Coogan< no role > For Felony and Forgery.

William Chetham< no role > of Falcon Square London Gentleman Solicitor for the
prosecution in this Cause maketh Oath and saith that John Coogan< no role > was on
the Fourteenth day of February last committed to the Gaol of Newgate for
feloniously making forging and counterfeiting and uttering and publishing
as true a certain Instrument purporting to be the last Will and Testament
of James Gibson< no role > late a Seaman on board the Private Ship of War called
The Vigilant with intent to defraud Evelyn Pierrepont Benjamin
Waddington and William Waddington< no role > Owners of the said Ship As appears to
this Deponent by a Copy of the Commitment of the said John Coogan< no role > And this
Deponent further saith that Previous to the said John Coogans Commitment
for the Crime aforesaid Probate of a Will and Testament purporting to be the
last Will and Testament of the said James Gibson< no role > had been granted by
the prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the said John
Coogan by the name of James Coogan< no role > as appeared to this Deponent
by the Probate of Such Will and Testament And this Deponent
further saith that the said William Waddington< no role > one of the Prosecutors
against the said John Coogan< no role > having been advised that the said
John Coogan< no role > could not be property tried for the said Crime until the said
Probate had been called in and revoked by the said Prerogative Court
did on behalf of himself the said William Waddington< no role > and the said
other prosecutors after the Commitment of the said John Coogan< no role > employ Mr.
James Townley< no role > a proctor in Doctors Connons to commence and carry on the
necessary proceedings in the said Court for the purpose of having the said probate
called in and in Consequence thereof the said John Coogan< no role > was at the Session
of Gaol Delivery of Newgate holden for the said City in the Month of February
last ordered by the Court to remain in Custody until this present Session And this
Deponent saith that he hath been informed by the said Mr. Townley (which
Information this Deponent beleives to be true) that since the said Session in
February last a Citation duly issued by the said Prerogative Court for the Purpose
of having the said Probate called in and revoked hath been served on the
said John Coogan< no role > but that no further proceedings could be had thereon
until the next Easter Term And lastly this Deponent saith that he hath
also been informed by the said Mr. Townley and which Information this
