"our Heirs & Successors or any six or more of them (whereof the Lord High Admiral of England for
"the time being to be always one) by any Warrant or Warrants signed with the Hands of them or any
"six or more of them (where of the Lord High Admiral of England for the time being to be one) shall
"at any time or times Will & Command the said Master Wardens & Assistants to person execute or
"do any Land Service or to be contributary to the Charge of any Armour Munition or any other Thing
"appertaining to such Land Service that then & so often the sd. Master Wardens & Assistants & their
"Successors shall upon & after the Receipt of any such Warrant perform & execute all & every such thing
"as shall be commanded & adjoyned unto them or any of them in & by the same any thing before in
"these Presents to the contrary thereof notwithstanding."

Saith that said Wm. Davis< no role > was on or about 11th. May 1781 duly elected & chosen an Elder
Brother of sd. Corporation & that he hath ever since been & now is such Elder Brother And saith he
hath been informed & beds. that by virtue of a Clause or Clauses in a certain Charter of Confirmation
granted to sd. Corporation & by virtue of such choice as afsd. said Wm. Davis< no role > is exempted from serving
of Juries Inquests & Inquisitions otherwise then at Session of Admirally.

It is not in the Knowledge of the Members or Clerks of the Corporation that any Five was
ever levied or even, untill this instance, set on any Elder Brother of the Corporation

In the Summer Assizes 1771 at Bristol two Younger Brethren of the Corporation Vizt.
Thos. Jones< no role > & Wm. Lewis< no role > both of that City not then using the Sea were Fined 40s. each for
refusing to be Sworn as Jurymen on the Nise Prices Side And these Fines being estreated into
the Court of Exchequer the Parties applied to that Court to have said Fines discharged wch.
that Court ordered accordingly.

The said David Court< no role > This name instance is in set 3902. who was then second Clerk to the Corporation then a House
keeper in the Parish of St. Paul Covent Garden was in Decr. Session 1775 all the Old Bailey
Fined for not appearing to serve as a Juryman & upon application to the Court at the Session
on 16th Octr. 1776 the Court discharged the Fine.
