this Informant to the said Burgess in the presence of the said Wagg
this Informant having first caused a direction to be written on the
back of said Will of the Name and place of abode of the Adminir=
statrixAnd the said John Pownall< no role > says that said Charles Lightowler< no role > was a Scholar to this
Informant for about 3 Years, by which he was thoroughly acquainted
with the said Charles Lightowler< no role > 's hand writing and doth verily believe
that the Name Chas. Lightowler< no role > signed to the said Will is not the
hand writing of the said Charles Lightowler< no role > the said Andrew Mc. Lean< no role >
says that he hath examined the said Will and doth not believes the same
to be written or signed by the said Charles Lightowler< no role > and that this
Informant is very sure the said Charles Lightowler< no role > was not at sick
Quarters at Long Island on the twenty ninth day of November 1781 at
which time the said Will is datedThe said Richard Jefferies< no role > says
that he knew the hand writing of the said Charles Lightowler< no role > from
the time of his first beginning to write and doth verily believe
the said Will was not signed by the said Charles Lightowler< no role > The
said George Cornfort< no role > says that about a Week ago the said Thomas
Wagg
< no role > came tothe saidhim said he had Money to receive and wanted
Money to get the same, on which he recommended him to said
Richard Bugess< no role > The said Richard Burgess< no role > says that on Thursday last
the said Thomas Wagg< no role > came to him, said that he had got a Will which
was in the hands of the said Benjamin Jones< no role > but that he could not
obtain the Probate of Said Will without £2..2..6 to pay for the same
That said Wagg said that said Mr. Jones had sent him to a person who
had informed him that there was £35 due a Wagesthat he was
the Person name in said Will to receive said Money and desired this
Informant would go with him to pay said Sum of £2..2..6 and
get said ProbateThat this Informant went with said Waggts
said Mr. Jones and said him two Guineas by said Waggs desire
and was to call again for the ProbateThat on the Saturday following
