Edward Egan< no role > of Rosemary Lane in the County of Middlesex
Taylor maketh Oath and saith that being bound by Recognizance
to appear and give Evidence against Patrick Quin< no role > (who was committed
for personating Thomas Date< no role > a Marine in order to receive his Prize
Money) at the Session for the City of London at Justice Hall in the
Old Bailey in the Month of October one thousand seven hundred and
eighty three he this Deponent fully intended to have appeared at the said
Session and given Evidence upon Notice given to him this Deponent for
that purpose And this Deponent further saith that being totally
Ignorant and Unacquainted with the hans of Attendance at the said
Session he this Deponent applied to one Micah Warren< no role > a Constable for
Information when it would be necessary for this Deponent to attend to give Evidence against the
said Patrick Quin< no role > and the said Micah Warren< no role > then informed this Deponent
that he the said Warren would give this Deponent timely Notice
when this Deponents Attendance at the said, Session would be necessary
And this Deponent further saith that relying wholly on the promise
of the said Micah Warren< no role > he this Deponent neglected to attend at the said
Session to give Evidence against the said Patrick Quin< no role > but this Deponent
being apprehensive that the said Micah Warren< no role > had forgot to give this
Deponent such Notice he this Deponent on the fourth day of November
one thousand seven hundred and eight three having been then
informed that the said Session were then holding at Justice Hall in the
Old Bailey attended the Court there and found that the business of
the said Session was expected to finish that Day And this Deponent
was afterwards informed by the said Micah Warren< no role > that the said Patrick
Quin was discharged for want of Prosecution and the said Micah Warren< no role >
at the same time expressed his Satis faction that he had been
the means of presowing the prisoner s Life And lastly this
Deponent saith that he did not neglect to Attend at the said Session
with any Intent that the said Prisoner Might be discharged for
want of prosecution or to favour the said prisoner or for any Record
or hope or premise thereof.
