Doctor in Physick maketh Oath and saith that on
Sunday last the 8th. day of March inst. in the Afternoon
this Dept. was sent for to attend the deced at his Dwelling
House in Cannon Street and that as soon as Dept.
arrived there he found that the deced had been wounded
in the Head immediately on which Dept. desired that
Surgeon shod. be called and accordingly Mr. Lucas
one of the Surgeons belonging to Guy's Hospital was
instantly sent for and came, but before he came the
deced informed this Dept. that he had been invited to a
private Room in the King's Arms Tavern in Cornhill
by a Relation who put a Question to the deced, which
was not answered to the Satisfaction of the Relation
upon which the Relation produced two Pistolswhich
and desired the deced to take one which the deced
refused to do, that the Relation then produced to violent
means by blows to which the deced attributed his
Indisposition [..] That Dept. and Mr. Lucas thought it
necessary to bleed the deced and they directed such other
Medines as they thought proper, and Dept. upon
Inquiry was informed that the deced [..] had been long
addicted to drinking from which he had been subject
to various complaints such as violent Vomitings,
tremblings on his newes and was accosionally
delirious, Slymptons simular to these appeared on
the deced since the Blows given which rendred it
not [..] improbable that these Symptons went in
a great measure connected with his former
Complaints, however to became more delirious them
usual and more alarming Symptoms appeared, his
Pulse failing him, cold Sweat came on and he died
after Dept. had daily visited him from the sd. Sunday to
Tuesday last the 10th inst.9when he died. Says he believes
that the former bad state of Health of the deced quat [..]
contributed to under the Wounds, and B [..] mental.
