London, and the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St. Clement
Danes in the County
of Middlesex} respectively.

WHEREAS Complaint hath this Day been. made
unto us two of His Majesty's Justices of the
Peace for this City, and the Liberties thereof (Quorum
unus) by You the Churchwardens and Overseers of
the Poor of the Parish of St. Botolph without Aldgate
London, That Mary Stokes< no role > the Wife of John Stokes< no role >
(now a Prisoner in the Poultry Compter ) and Mary< no role >
their Daughter aged about Eighteen years are
lately to me into
your said Parish not having obtained any
legal Settlement there, and are likely to become charge-
able thereto by reason of their Poverty
unless timely prevented,
which Complaint we adjudge to be true. And forasmuch
as it appears unto us by the Oath of the said Mary Stokes
the Mother that about Nineteen years ago the Said
John Stokes her husband was a yearly hired Servant
with one Mrs. Verey in Essex Street in the Parish of St. Clement
Danes in the County of Middx by the Space of one whele
Year and upwards he being then a Single man and did
not obtain any subsequent Settlement. We the said Ju-
stices are therefore of Opinion, and do adjudge the last
legal Settlement of the said Mary Stokes and Mary her
said Daughter to be in the said Parish
of St. Clement Danes in the County of Middlesex and
that thitherto they ought by Law to be sent.

THESE are therefore in His Majesty's Name to re-
quire You to remove and convey the said Mary Stokes
and her Said Daughter Mary
from and out of your said Parish of St. Botolop without
Aldgate- London, to the said Parish of St. Clement Danes in
Middx aforesaid and them leave with the Churchwardens &
Overseers of the Poor there, or one of them, who is and
are hereby required to receive and provide for them
according to Law. Hereof sail not, and this shall be your
Warrant. Given under our Hands and Seals the Third
Day of January Anno Domini 17 22 .
