Where as complaint hath be one made unto us whose Lands and
Seales are hereunto sett two of his Majesties Justices of the
Peace of the Citty of London Quorum Comes & by the Churchwarden
and overseers of the Peace of the Parish of St. Mary
Somerset London that heath Alice Barnes< no role > Widdow is
Lately come into the said Parish endeavouring to game a
Settlement there without giveing Notice in writeing of the Place
of her Abode or Number of her family to the Churchwardens
or Overseer of the Poore of the same Parish as by Law is required
and is like to become chargeable to the said Parish And for
asmuch as Oath is made before us by Martha Freeman< no role >
that the last Legall Settlement of Barnes deceased late
Husband of the said Alice Barnes< no role > was in the Parish of St. Peters
Pauls wharfe where he dwelt in Robinhoods Court about Sixteen
yeares aged and about Six or Seavens next after and that the said
Barnes dyed & was Buried in the said Parish of St Peters
Paulls Wharfe And wee know next of another legall Settlement of the alice Bar [..]
Their are therefore in his Majesties name to will and require
you the Officers of the said Parish of St. Mary Somersett
Some or One of you to take passe and can by away the said
Alice Barnes< no role > Widdow of the saidBarnes Bricklayer
to the Parish of St. Peters Pauls Wharfe aforesaid
and there deliver Her to the Churchwardens & Overseers of
the Poore of the same Parish or to Some or One of them who
are hereby likewise in his Majesties Name required be
receive and provide for Her according to Law and hereof
you nor any of yeare to faile given under one hands & seals
this twentieth day of February Sixteene hundred Ninety Nine
