Stocking Trimmer taken before me
this 23rd. day December 1788
Who being upon Oath say, and first the said
Mary Thomas< no role >
for herself saith that last Night about 9 o'Clock, as
she was walking along the Strand
[..] opposite the New Church
a person now present who calls himself Michael Lucas< no role >
seized hold of her, knocked her down, and feloniously
took from her the black Silk Cloak now produced on
which she immediately called out ''Stop Thief '' and
caused the Said Michael Lucas< no role >
to the secured
And the said Jeremiah John Thompson< no role >
for himself saith
that hearing the Cry of "Stop Thief" last Night about
9 o'Clock in the Strand
he pursued the said Michael
Lucas< no role >
and came up to him in Burleigh Street in the
Strand
, where he knocked down another Man who
was also pursuing him when he this Informant Struggled
with him, and took the said black silk Cloak out
of his Pocket, soon after which he was secured, and
conveyed to Covent Garden Watch House
.
