And first Ann Dyde< no role >
for herself saith that on the Twenty fourth Day
of December Instant about Eight o Clock the Evening a Person
who called himself Captain Walton came into the Shop of Messr

and asked to look at some sattin
Cloaksand Bonnettwhich were shewn him and he made a purden
to the Amount of fourteen Pounds and upwards and presented
a NoseBillfor twenty five Guineas purporting to be Drawn by one

Caption Walton or Bearer on Demand and dreguested to have the Ballance
That this Inft, then sent the said NoteBillto Mr Dyde (who was upstairs)
by one of the Shopman, and further saith that the Note now produced
in the same that was presented to her at the time abovementioned

for himself saith that on the 24th. Day of
December Instant as he was sitting up Stairs about Eight o' Clock
in the Evening he received a noteBillby one of his Shopman who
said a Gentleman had bought some things and wished to have
the Ballance this Inft. upon looking at the said noteBillsuspected it
to be a bad one and Immediatly to Drummonds to know,
That upon the servants coming back and telling this Inft,
that the said nosebillwas a Bad one this Inft. went into the Shop
[..] and was told that the Gentleman who had bought the things
desired they might be sent with the Change the Bath Hotel
in Arlington Street
that this Inft then sent for a Constable
and sent the things by a Girl and Immediately followed after That
on Coming to the Hotel he found the person [..] (present who

) in the Passage asking the Girl
for the Change
that this Inft. then said to the Sd. Gordon that he
