taken upon Oath the Seventeenth Day
of October 1789
Who upon their several Oaths say and first the said
John Mr. Carty for himself saith that he keeps a Publick House
in Cockpitt Alley Drury Lane
that on [..] Friday the Sixteenth Day
of October Instant about eleven o Clock at Night he fastened
the Windows belonging to his House and went to Bed but left
some Company in his House and also the two prisoners John

and Nicholas Duke< no role >
that sometime afterwards
his Wife came to Bed that some Time afterwards he was
awakened by the Watchman who called him and said

your Window is broke open & I dare say you are
robbed upon wch. he immediately got up & upon search
found he had been robbed & that the wearing Apparell
now produced is his Property

for himself saith that being a Constable
he went along with John Beamish< no role >
and John Mc. Carty< no role >
above
named to execute a Warrant upon the prisoners John
Richardson< no role >
& Nicholas Duke< no role >
on suspicion if their having
burglariously broke open & robbed the sd. John Mc. Cartys House that
he took the prisoner John Richardson< no role >
at the sd. Mc. Carty's House that he then
went and took the other Prisoner Nicholas Duke< no role >
at his
Father's Cellar in Charge Court in the Strand near Exeter

and upon searching him found in me of his
Breeches Pocketts some Silver & in the other Pockett some
Halfpence & Farthings and upon searching under the
Stairs found a Bundle containing the property now
