The Information of Jonathan Holder< no role > servant to a
Thomas Hower< no role > Junr. of Old Gravel Lane Sr. George Midels
Ironmonger and Richard Rippin< no role > of Ratcliff highway
in the same parish Undertaker and Coffin maker taken this
29th day of June 1789 who being on their oaths say and first the said
Jonathan Holder for himself saith on Wednesday the 24th of June instant
the person present who saith his name is James Street< no role > Two thousand
twenty penny nails Two thousand five pound slender clinch nails one
Thousand three penny burnish racks and one Gimblet Value Twenty nine
Shillings in the name of Mr. Richard Rippin< no role > his Masters Customer which
he delivered unto him at which time he did not know that the said
James Street< no role > had left the service of the said Richard Rippin< no role > to whose debit
he put all the said Articlessays soon after the said James Street< no role >
had taken away the said nails his master came into the shop said
he suspected Street and sent his fellow servant after him who brought
him back and the several Articles in the bag produced. And that on
the 17th of the same month he delivered to the said James Street< no role > Two thousand of
three penny burnish nails half a thousand ten penny nails and half a thousand of
twenty penny nails Two thousand six penny nails four thousand five pound of
slender clinch nails and one Gimblet of the value of Twenty Shillings [..] for and in
the name of no Rippin who was made debtor for the same

John White< no role > on his Oath saith he is apprentice to Thomas Hawes< no role > Junr . that
he has been in his service about four months and well knows [..] James Street< no role >
coming to his Masters house the servant of Mr. Rippin and having good in
his name that on the 24th: of June Instant he came to his Masters Shop and
had the several Articles of Ironmongers produced in the Bag produced delivered
to him for Mr. Rippin as he saidSays his Master saying he had suspicion
of him sent this Informant after him to see where he went with them
says Street went a different way [..] instead of the direct way to Mr. Rippins
and a little before he came to Church lane he stopt him and brought
him back with he said nail to his masterthat when he stopt
him the said James Street< no role > the said he had the nails on his own Account and
not Mr. Rippins

Richard Rippin< no role > on his Oath saith that said James Street< no role > left his Service upwards
of Six weeks and since he did not give him orders to go to the said Mr.
Hawes for any Ironmongers for him

James Street< no role > says the Ironmongers he had of the 17th of June instant of Mr. Hawes
as well as that which he had at Mr. Hawes on the 24th of June Instant was
delivered to him on his own credit it and not on the Credit of his late master
