Who being upon Oath severally say and first the said William
Whitten< no role >
for himself says that about one o'Clock in the Morning
of Wednesday lash the wth. Instant it being then shewg motion light as he this Informant in
Company with the other Informant were returning from the Queens
Head Public Horse in Holles Street Cavendish Square
to Kentish
Town
, about Midway of the Turnpike Road leading from Mother
Red Caps upon the Hampstead Road
to Kentish Town
, they were
met by Two men, that as this Informant was passing them, one of the
Men gently laid hold of his Collar and said "Excuse me", and upon
InformantsDeplying "Excuse me for What". said man drew a
pistol from under his [..] held it towards his this Informants
Breast which Pistol Informant turned [..] aside with one hand and struck
at said Man with the other, that Informant then fell down and his hat fell off and as
he wasarisingsaid Man again presented the pistol at himthat
Informant then ran away [..] towards Kentish Town
and said Man
pursued him and as Informant out ran him, he stop'd his pursuit &
returned towards the other Informant, as did also this Informant
that upon Informant coming again near the said Man, he
turned round and again presented the pistol upon which Informant
again ran away and said Man pursued, and again both returned
towards the other Informant when said Man again presented
the pistolthat the said Two Men they ran away Fields that during all this Time neither of said Two Men
made any demand of Informants Money or other property
neither did the Man that was in Company with him that
presented the Pistol do any Act [..] or say anything
whatsoeverAnd this Informant also says that the has never seen
his hat sinceThat he this Informant has several Times been
at the sign of the Britania on the Hampstead road
where he has
often [..] seen a person now present who calls himself William
Edwards< no role >
and who he this Informant always understood to be one of
the patrole Employed from the Public Office in Bow Street
and that
he has drank with the said William Edwards< no role >
at the said House
and he this Informant believes that the said William Edwards< no role >
