of his Majestys Justices of the Peace acting in
and for the said County this 15th. day of
February 1788

Who being duly Sworn severally upon their
Oaths say And forst this Informant Margaret
the Wife of John Appleby< no role > who keeps or Name at No: 1
Barretts Court in the Parish of St. Mary le bone
that her Husband and She Occupy and live in
the Two Parlours-and that her Husband is a
Shoemaker and Works in the Fore Garrett that On
Friday the 1st: day of February Inst. this Informant
about Six OClockin the Evening had
Accassion to go ant-She went to the back Room door
to try if the same was locked-and found it was,
that she then went out at the [..] of the Fore.
Parlour which she also locked a [..] t the Key in
her Pocket andat the time she spent out as
above she left in the Back Parlour or Box
containing Two Pour of Silk Stockings Three Muslin
Aprons Three Cloth Do: Three Muslin Corps Three
Muslin Handkerchief One Flounce for a Petticoat
One Blue Velvet House Wife and some Robbins
and Ruffles-the same being a part of her own Wearing
Apparel-none of which has been recovered

And this Informant John [..] leby for himself
saith that he is a Shoemaker [..] keeps a
Name in Banetts Court as above his Wife and
he live in the Parlours and he works up in
the Fire Garrett that On the 1s: day of February
Instant being at this Work about half past
nine OClock at Night the other Informant
John Green< no role > came up and told him he believed
his House had been Robbed for that he had seen
two Men come out of it with a Box upon
which he took or Candle and went down
to the Parlours-and then faund the Back
Parlour Door standing wide open then went
into it and missed a Box which he had seen
therein and upon Examining the Lock of
the Door found that some force or other had
been used either with a false or Pick lock They
for that the They belonging to it would not
open it with the same lase it did before from
which this Informant verily believe the
said Parlour Door had been forced open ley
