The several Information of John Whitehouse< no role > , George
Meechum, Mary Murphy< no role > , John Mc. Ginnis, Michael Stack< no role > ,
Daniel Clarke< no role > and James Beech< no role > taken the twenty first day of
January 1788

Who Upon their Oaths severally say and first the said John Whitehouse< no role > for himself
saith that on Wednesday night last about twelve o'Clock he met a Girl who calls herself
Lydia Jones< no role > in Cross Lane that she asked him to go home with her which he did that
soon after they were in the Room she stamped her foot and immediately two men who calls
themselves Thomas Collins< no role > and Thomas Granger< no role > came into the Room and seized hold of
him that collins pulled out of his Breeches Pocket some Papers, amongst which were
Seven, five Guinea Bankers Notes and threw them on the floor when a man
who calls him self Thomas Messenger< no role > Rushed into the Room picked them up and Ran off with
them that he seized hold of Thomas Collins< no role > and Thomas Granger< no role > when a Girl whose
names is Elizabeth Smith< no role > came and hicked him several times, that Lydia Jones< no role > laid
hold of his Hankerchief and took it from his neck that Thomas Collins< no role > put his hand
in the Deponents pocket and took out two half Guineas and about six shillings, that
afterwards Thomas Collins< no role > got from him and Ran down stairs that a persons then below
stairs called Watch when collins Returned into the Room and hid himself in the Closet
that the Watchman then came into the Room and or searching about, the said Collins
was found in a Closet in the Room and on searching him ther Was found in his
Months two Shillings and a halfpenny that then the above named Thomas Collins< no role >
Thomas Granger< no role > Lydia Jones< no role > and Elizabeth Smith< no role > were by the Watchmen and Patrols
taken to the Watch [..] House; That on Thursday afternoon about three o Clock he went to the
House where he was Robbed in search of the man who the preceeding night had ran
off with the Papers, that the had not been there above a minute when the said Thomas Messenger< no role >
came in that the immediately laid hold of him and put himtoin the Watch [..] House and
sent for a Constable that on searching him there was found a Pocket Handkerchief which
he swears to be is that in the said Handkerchief amongst some other Duplicates was
one of Handkerchief pawned that day which Handkerchief on seeing at the Pawn brokers
he swears to be the same as was, taken off is neck the preceeding night

Mary Murphy< no role > Sworn says that she is the Wife of Luke Murphy< no role > and Landlady of the House where the above
Robbery was committed that about twelve o Clock on Wednesday night last she was sitting
below stairs with the said Thomas Messenger< no role > when the above mentioned Thomas
Granger
< no role > and Lydia Jones< no role > came down stairs that Granger said to her shut the
Street door which she did and called the Watch that on going up stairs she saw the
said John Whitehouse< no role > in great flustler and screaming very much that he said
he had lost to the amount of £50 that she then went to the Window and called
the Watch that a Watchman came up stairs [..] that an
searching Round the Room the said Thomas Collins< no role > was found in the Closet lying
down under come old Baskets that she pulled him out and and said to John Whitehouse< no role >
