The Information of Joseph Ozeley< no role > of [..] Gravel Lane near Pettycoat lane
in the Parish of St Bottolph Aldgate in the City of London Baker taken this [..] th
day of Augt. 1788 before me one of His Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the said
County who being on his Oath saith on Friday last was afortnight he left a Feather bed Value
Twenty five Shillings at the house of Ann Hughes< no role > a Lodger at No. 48 in Wheeler Street Spitalfield
who he is informed is the mother of the Parson present who saith his Name is Charles Hughes< no role > . That
on Wednesday the 13th: Instant in the forenoon he went to the Lodgings of the said Ann Hughes< no role > where
he Saw the person present who saith her name is Mary Hughes< no role > the wife of the said Charles Hughes< no role > who
informed him that her husband had taken the said Bad away and sold it

Ann Hughes< no role > Singlewoman Servant to the said Joseph Ozaley on her oath saith last Wednesday
[..] her Brother Charles Hughes< no role > told her that he had sold the Bed he had Stole from his Mother
to Elizabeth Potter< no role > the Wife of William Potter< no role > at No 80 Cable Street Whitechapel dealer in
houshold Good for the sum of Twelve Shillings, That she went to the house of Potter and asked
Mrs. Potter if she had bought a Bed who said Gas and had sold it again for twelve Shilling and
six pence for Six pence profit in consequence of which her said Brother was apprehand [..]

Charles Hughes< no role > saith he found the Bed (which he sold to William Potter< no role > on Monday
Morning last for the sum of Twelve Shillings) in his Room No. 1 [..] path wheeler street on Saturday last was a Week
that he doth not know how it came these not being his property the Reason he sold it was for
want of monyThat he asked Potter [..] Sixteen Shillings for it in the open Shop and was there
about a Quarter of an hour before he received his mony that he parted for six pence
went to the Door with the Bed returned and took the money

William Potter< no role > No. 80 Cable Street Whitechapel Broker on his Oath saith on Monday the
Eleventh of August Instant between the hours of Eleven and twelve in the forenoon on Charles Hughes< no role >
came into his Shop with a feather Bed and asked him to buy it asking Sixteen Shillings for the said
bed that he bed hi [..] half a Guinea was about Ten Minutes or a Quarter of an hour The said Charles
one time went out at the door enfusing to take [..] than Twelve Shillings for the said Bed That he called him
back and did give him twelve Shilling the price demanded saying over and over again it was
his own propertySays with in Three hours afterwards he [..] ld said Bed to Woman for the
sum of Twelve Shillingss and Six pence and no more
