Who being upon Oath severally say, and first the said Benjamin
Morgan
< no role > for himself Says, that about seven o'Clock last Night
as he was driving his Wife, his Son, and his Doughter in a Single
Horse, Araise, ever Finchley Common in his way to Town
he was stopped by three persons on Fool near the three Horse
Shoes That the person now present, who calls himself
George Roberts< no role > is one of the said three Men, and who laid hold
of his Horses Reins and stopped him. That one of the other
Then presented a Pistol to him, and demanded his Money,
when he gave him a Guinea and a few Shillings, which
was all the Money he had and he very will remembers
the Guinea was of the date of 1777 and the other person went
to the side of the Chaise on which his wife was And this
Informant further says that after they had robbed them
as aforesaid, they left the Chaise, and his Horse being restive
he desired one of them to return and lead his Horse on a
little when said Robert returned and laid hold of his
Horse and led him on for a few Yards. That he immediately
drove to the bald faced Stag and gave Information of the
Robbery, when pursuit was immediately made after them
And the said Martha Morgan< no role > for herself says, that she
was with her Husband at this time, that one of the Men
came to her side of the Chaise, and with a bludgeon in
his Hand demanded her Money, when she gave him a
quantity of Halfpence, and Farthings to the Amount of
about seven pence or light pence And the said Thomas
Morgan
< no role > for himself says that he was with his Father and
Mother at this time That just before the Chaise was stopt
as aforesaid he saw a Coach at a small distance which
