The Information of William Hall< no role >
of the Waggon and Horses at Brentford
Victualler taken before me this 15th.
day of September 1787 .

Who being upon Oath Saith that on or about the 19th.
day of January 1786 The Person now present who calls
himself Thomas Smith< no role > and another person came to his
House about five o'Clock in the Morning that they brought with
them a Basket and after calling for and drinking a pint of
Purl he the said Smith desired this Informant to take same
of the said Basket adding that he would call for it in the
Evening That the said Basket was accordingly put into the
Cellar That it continued there until the 26th. of the Said
Month on which day between the Hours of Six and Seven o'Clock
in the Evening the said Prisoner and the said other person
came and demanded the said Basket And this Informant
further Says that about two Hours before on the said twenty
Sixth of January he this Informant and one Robert
Nichols
< no role > [..] being in the Said Cellar had the curiosity to
examine the contents of said Basket that on Such examination
they found several Implements as they thought calculated
for House breaking and amongst the rest He particularly
remembers that the Spike gimblett and the Steel now
produced were two of the said Implements That he is
perfectly sure they are such from the Mark which he then
made on them in consequence of their said Suspicions
And this Informants further Says that the Said Prisoner
at the time of receiving said Baskett desired this Informant
to give him some Matches and that he accordingly did give
him two Matches
