John Cro [..] h being duly Sworn Saith that on the
8th. of June last the Prisoner William Grant< no role > came
to his Masters Shop in Benwick Street and Offered
as he Imagined a Garnet Ring Set round with
Diamonds to Pleder this Informant asked him who the Ring
belonging to he Said his wife, this Informant Asked
him it he knew the Value of the Ring, he Said his Wife
told him it was a Ring of Value, but he only wanted
half a Guinea on it, this Informant went with Grant
to his house No: 1 new Turnstiles Stolborn where he Said
he lived, and finding he lived there gave him half
a Guineas and a duplicate, this Informant further Saith
that on the 22d. of June following, Grant came and
fetched the Ring out and Said he wanted to Sell it
this Informant asked him what he asked for it who
Said Six Guineas this Informant offered him four
Pounds, Grant Said he would take five Pounds and went
Away, Soon After he returned and Said he wou'd taken four
Guineas which this Informant gave him, and put the Said
Ring in the Shop Window and Marked it Six Guineas, About
three or four hours After one Mr. Jacobs came into the
Shop and Asked to look at the Said Ring, and Purchased
the Said Ring for Six Guineas.
