The Information of Thomas Tait< no role > a Mariner
at the House of Cap Edward Sharp< no role > in Eliphant Lane
St. Mary Rotherhith in the County of Surry Mariner
Taken the 29th day of August 1787 Who being Oath says that last
night being in Ratcliff Highway in the Parish of St. George middlesex
he met with Ann Saberi< no role > the Prisoner present and agreed to go to her
Lodging at Mr Vendom No.16 in Denmark Street St. George aforesaid that he
went with her and gaver her Two Shillings for the Lodging and Six pence
to Martha Naylor< no role > likewise present for some been and to Keep the Change
That he pullled his Clothes off put his Breeches under his head having in
the Pockets One Guinea and half a Guinea in Gold and about the Value of
Twenty Shillngs in Silver and the piece of Base metal resembling a
Shilling piece produced purporting to be the current evin of the Kingdom Says he soon fell
a sleep and was awaked by the said Martha Naylor< no role > asking him if
he was not robbed That he got up Examined his pockets and Missed One
Guinea in Gold Two half Crown pieces and the said piece of Base Metal
and the said [..] Ann Saberi< no role > gone Says he pursued the said Ann
did not find her until he heard she was in St George Washouse That
he verily believes the said Ann Saberi Robbed him of his said Mong and
piece of Base Metal which he saw taken from her

Mary Naylor< no role > Says Thomas Tait< no role > and Ann Saberi came last night about
the hour of Eleven to No:16 in Denmark Street St. George to lay that she went into
the Room fetched a Pot of Beer had the Change given her and then left them that
some Time after she went up Stairs found Tait in bed alone and the said Ann
gone She awaked him and asked if he had not last any thing [..] That he Examined
his Pocket and said he had been robbed of a Guinea

William Elbey< no role > on Oath says he took the piece of Base metal from
the said Ann Saberi which Thomas Tait< no role > immediately declared was his and
she confessed it was Sworn at same time before me John Staples< no role > William Ellen< no role >
The said Ann Saberi confessed and Says she took a Guinea and the had Shilling out of the
Breaches Pocket of the said Thomas Tait< no role > but not the Two half Crown piece

Taken signed and declared to be Smith this 24th Aug 1787
