in Oxford Street
in the said County taken
before me this 5th. day of November 1786
Who being upon Oath saith that being informed that
the said Charles Crause< no role >
had been robbed in his House about
four oClock this morning he came down stairs in search
of said John Gasalt< no role >
hiswho was not in the bed in
which he usually [..] lies in this Informants House
That on coming down he found the Sash of the Bar thrown
up and the Bar door which leads to the Street unbolted
That he went immediately with his Son to get a Constable
to apprehend said GavaltThat not being able to get a
Constable he applied at St: James's Watch House
where
he found [..] said Gavalt in CustodyThat he immediately
charged him with said Robbery and demanded the Money
and Notes on which he delivered the mixture coloured
striped silk purse now produced containing ten Guineas
in Moneyseven half Guineas, nine shillings one six pence
two twenty pound Notesand five ten pound NotesThat
said Gavalt acknowledge to this Informant that he
had stolen the same in this Informants House and
begged for Mercy
