Taken the 6th: day
of October 1786
Who upon their Oaths severally say And first the
said Elizabeth Morrison< no role >
for herself saith That
about the hour of 12. oClock this day as she was going
through the passage of the Dwelling House of Mathew
Wake< no role >
in Lawrance Lane
Saint Giles's
where she
Lodges she saw a young woman coming out of the
Cack parlour Window into the yard of the said
Mathew Wakes House and had in her hand a printed
Callico Muslin Gown which she knew was the
property of the said Elizabeth Wake< no role >
That the woman
desired her not to hurt her that She had a young man in
prison she was in distress and desired her to follow her
and she would give her Six Shillings for she was going
to take the Gown away but she did not say what she
was going to do with it That this Informant then
Called Assistance and had her taken into Custody
that the Woman says her Name is Esther Curtis< no role >
The said Elizabeth Wake< no role >
for herself saith
That the Gown now produced is her own property
and was Washed this day after which She hung it on
a line in the parlour above mentioned That it is
of the Value of Fifteen Shillings
