Evidence before the Grand Jury and also acquaint the several Witnesses when
their Attendance would be necessary which he promised to do And this
Deponent William Mitton< no role > for himself further Saith. that on Monday the
Seventeenth of July last being the first day of the Sessions this Deponent
kept himself in readiness and was in expectation of hearing from the said
Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > (as promised) when the Bills would be presented
and this Deponents Attendance would be necessary thereon But having
received no Notice whatever this Deponent made several inquiries at the
Old Bailey and also sent to the House of the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role >
thereon but could not see or hear from him till the Thursday in the
Sessions Week when this Deponent accidentally met the said Marmaduke
Teasdale
< no role > in Cornhill of whom he asked the reason why the Bills were
not Presented when the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > did not give this
Deponent any direct Answer but said he should take care to Present
them in time and would let this Deponent and the other Witnesses know
but that his Council who setled the Bills told him the Evidence
of this Deponent and the Deponent Griffiths were not material before
the Grand Jury and therefore he believed he need not trouble them to
Attend And this Deponent Saith that he had attended Daily at the
Old Bailey during the Sessions and did notwithstanding continue To
Attend there expecting the Bills to be returned and made several inquiries
both of Mr. Shelton and Mr, Wilson relative thereto: And that on
Saturday Morning the twenty second of July last this Deponent received a
Letter from the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > dated from Caddicks Row
Whitehall '' desiring this Deponents Attendance at the Old Bailey upon
''Receipt thereof as in all probabilty the Trail would come on that day'')
That upon the Receipt of the said Letter this Deponent immediately went
to the Old Bailey expecting the Bills were returned there and wrote a
Line to Mr. Wilson which this Deponent caused to be Conveyed across the
Table to him who wrote this Deponent for Answer that the Bills were
not returned therefore it was uncertain when the Trail would come on
that this Deponent fearing there was some mistake continued at the
Old Bailey till the Middlesex Jury went to Dinner when Deponent
soon after received a Message from the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role >
that the Bills were thrown out by the Grand Jury And this Deponent
Saith that he was always ready and willing and fully meant and intented
to give Evidence both before the Grand Jury and to the Trail but relied on
receiving Notice from said Teasdale when the Bills would be presented
to the Grand Jury (the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > being the Party bound
