John Campbell< no role > and William Ross Darby< no role >

James Griffiths< no role > of Doctors Commons London Vintner and William
Mitton
< no role > of the same place Gentleman severally make Oath and Say
And first this Deponent James Griffiths< no role > for himself saith that in
the Month of June last Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > of Chaddicks Row
Charing Cross applied to this Deponent and sai he had an Annuity of
Thirty Pounds a Year to dispose of for one John Campbell< no role > to be
Secure on his Half Pay as a Lieutenant in the late third Battalion
of the Sixtieth Regiment of Foot and Deponent being desirous of
Purchasing same for a Friend gave directions in the Presence of the
said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > to the Deponent William Mitton< no role > and
his Partner Midford Young< no role > to prepare the necessary Writings for
Assigning and securing the same Which were accordingly prepared and
Saturday the third of June was appointed for the Execution thereof at
this Deponents House.

And this Deponent William Mitton< no role > for himself saith that by
the direction of the said James Griffiths< no role > he prepared the necessary
Writings for Assigning and securing the said Annuity so agreed to be
Purchased and attended therewith at the House of the Deponent Griffiths
on Saturday the third of June being the day appointed to execute same
but the said John Campbell< no role > did not come nor were the said Writings ever
executed.

And both these Deponents severally say they were soon
afterwards informed by the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > that the said John
Campbell
< no role > was charged with having forged a Letter of Attorney and that
William Ross Darby< no role > was charged with having aided and assisted him
therein, and desired these Deponents Attendance on the Magistrates at
Bow Street thereon, And both these Deponents accordingly attended there
when after Examinations had the said Campbell and Darby were committed
for Tryal And the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > was bound over to Prosecute
and give Evidence And these Deponents were (together with several other Witnesses)
bound over to give Evidence at the then next Sessions at the Old Bailey
And the Magistrates informed the said Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > he must
get the Person whose Name had been Forged to come to Town to give
