Clarke< no role > taken before me this Tenth Day of August
1786 .

Who being on Oath for themselves say and first James
Potter< no role > for Himself says that Yesterday Morning about Ten
oClock He met a Woman now present who calls Herself
Esther Howard< no role > (a Stranger to this Informant) in Tothil Street
that they went together to the Sign of the Wheat Sheaf to Drink
Dined and stayed there all the Afternoon that he this Informt:
had a Watch in his Pocket which He Pulled out while in
Company with the said Esther Howard< no role > that the had likewise
Two Half Guineas and some Silver in his Pocket and Two Keys
of his Lodgings were produced that this Informant changed
one of the said half Guineas in the said House that no Person
was near this Informant and the said Esther Howard< no role > during
their Stay in the said House that between the Hours of Nine
and Ten at Night this Informant left the said Esther Howard< no role >
at the said House and went immediately to his Lodgings
that about an Hour after he missed his Watch and Money
and this Informant further says that the Keys now produced
by William Sherving< no role > and the Watch now produced by Robert
Clark< no role > are his property and that He verily believes that the
said Esther Howard< no role > took the same privately out of his Pockets
and likewise the aforesaid Monies

Jane Ferguson< no role > for Herself says that She is Servant
to Mr: Armstrong of the Wheat sheaf in Tothil Street that
about Five yesterday Afternoon She saw the aforesaid James
Potter< no role > go into the Vault in her Masters Yard that a few Minutes
after She saw the said Esther Howard go into the Vault to the
said James Potter< no role > that the Door being open this Informant
saw the said Esther Howard take a Silver Watch with a Chain
out of James Potter< no role > Breeches and first it into a Piece of White paper
with Writing on one Side and brought it in her hand into
the Yard then went into the Tap room again soon after went
out of the said House and returned in about an Hour to the
said James Potter< no role > and this Informant further says that She son
the sd. James Potter< no role > take his Watch out to see the Hour before He went into the Yard
