Who being on Oath say and first said Thomas Carpmeal< no role >
says that,
on Monday last the 28th. of March, he this Informant with others,
went to a House kept by one Thomas Chapman< no role >
on Crasen Hill
in the Parish of Paddington
wherein counterfeiting the Copper
Money of this Realm was suspected to be carried on and in the
fore Parlour found Solomon Leach< no role >
and William Cheshire< no role >
now present, eating bread and cheese, their Hands appearing
very dirty and in a Working dress. That in Cheshire's waistcoat
pocket he found a piece of SesilThat in a Back parlour
(the Floor whereof was Dug up) In found a large Press with 2
Dies for Farthings fixed therein and one Farthing between them;
a great number of Farthings (apparently just Struck) lying round
the Press and in another Part of said Parlour he found a Cutting
Press fixed with several Blanks and a Quantity of Sesil lying
round it, and also a Hat which Cheshire afterwards owned &
claimedAnd the said William Bowyer< no role >
says that he was also
present at this time and found the Hat which Cheshire afterwards
claimed hanging on a Nail between said Press's. That between 6 &
7 o'Clock the same Evening he observed a Woman now present who
calls herself Ann Leach< no role >
coming out of the Hog and Armour Alehouse
near said Hence and on
Searching her, found a Farthing now produced widenthy struck
from the two Dies before mentioned And the said Thomas
Ting< no role >
says that he was present with said Thomas Carpmeal< no role >
and Searched said Solomon Leach< no role >
and in his left hand
