taken before me one of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace
in and for the City and Liberty of Westminster
this 5th. day of March 1785
Who being upon Oath say [..] and first the said John Lowe< no role >
for himself says that he was last Night upon his Duty, as
Turnpike-man
at Pimlico Turnpike
, that about eleven o'Clock
he laid down four Six pences and eight penny worth of half pence
upon a Table and laid himself down on the Bed in the same Room
now present who calls himself Alexander Wilkie< no role >
came into the
Room and threw down a Basket bidding this Informant take Care
of it for that he had lost his Ass and went out of the Room, that
very soon afterwards the Said Alexander Wilkie< no role >
came into the
Room again and this Informant hearing the Money Single and
perceiving it to be gone from the Table charged the Said Alexander
Wilkie< no role >
with stealing it which he denied and struggled to get
away, that the said John Birdseye< no role >
coming up assisted this
Informant and the Said Alexander Wilkie< no role >
pulled out of his own
Pocket two Six pences and a Shilling one of which Six pences this
Informant is very certain was one of the Six pences that were
stolen as aforesaid, that afterwards there were taken out of
the said Alexander Wilkie< no role >
's Shoe two other Six pences and
a shilling one of which Six pences also this Informant is
very certain was one of those Stolen is aforesaid, And
the Said John Birdseye for himself says that he assisted
in securing & searching the Said Alexander Wilkie< no role >
as
above mentioned and took from him the said four Spencer
