Middlesex to Wit


The Information of Daniel Pulteney< no role > Esqr . of Saint
James's Square Gentleman taken before me this 30th
day of April 1784

Who being upon Oath says that about 3 oClock last
Wednesday afternoon as he was passing thro' Covent Garden his Pocket
was picked of a mixture coloured ribbon Purse (with two sliders
containing 30 Guineas) and an Opera GlassThat he observed
a person now present who calls himself John Westland< no role > who had
placed himself close to this InformantThat immediately missing
his Purse Money and Opera Glass he caused said Westland to
be taken into Custody, soon after which on this Informants
declaring he had had his Pocket picked, a Number of
Persons brought another person now present who calls himself
Jonathan Lee< no role > to this Informant saying that he was another
person concerned in robbing him, on which he searched
him and found the said opera Glass upon him concealed
in his BreechesAnd further says that from the above
and other Circumstances he doth verily believe that she
said John Westland< no role > and Jonathan Lee< no role > are the persons that
robbed him as aforesaid
