The Information of Thomas Racey< no role > , William
Harwood
< no role > and Elizabeth Burgess< no role > taken on Oath the
23d day of March 1784 before me one of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex

This Informant Thomas Racey< no role > Saith That on Wednesday the
seventeenth day of March Instant about a Quarter past Eight
o'Clock at night three Woemen came into his shop in Smock Alley
in the Parish of Christ Church , when one of them desired to look at
some Ribbands, and Whilst this Informant was taking down some
Ribbands to shew her, One of the Three Women whose name is
Elizabeth Vickry< no role > which is the Prisoner now under Examination
went out of his shop, upon which this Informant missed a piece
of Printed Cotton from off his Counter And further that a Piece
of Printed Cotton now produced by Benjamin Ward< no role > a peace
Officer is his property and the same which was stolen from
off his Counter as before mentioned.

This Information William Harwood< no role > Saith That on Wednesday
the seventeenth day of March Instant a little after Eight o'Clock
at night he was standing at the Corner of Smock Alley in the
Parish of Christ Church he heard some body fall down and
looking round to see who it was he saw Joseph Marshall< no role >
the Prisoner now under Examination pretending to lift up
Elizabeth Vickry< no role > who was then on the Ground but instead
of lifting her of the Ground he took from under her Cloaths
a piece of Printed Cotton now produced by Benjamin Ward< no role >
a Peace Officer and that the said Joseph Marshall< no role >
immediately ran away with the same and left Elizabeth
Vickry
< no role > on the Ground upon which this Informant and
one Joseph Coleman< no role > pursued the said Joseph Marshall< no role >
and on Marshall name being called he the said Joseph
Marshall
< no role > immediately threw down the piece of Cotton now produced
by the said Benjamin Ward< no role > and that Elizabeth Burgess< no role >
took up the same and delivered it [..] , this
Informant and the said Joseph Coleman< no role > and this Informant then went back
and took the [..] said Elizabeth Vickry< no role > into Custody
and Conveyed the said Vickry and the piece of Cotton into
the said Thomas Raceys Shop and delivered the Said Vickry
and the piece of Cotton into the hands of Benjamin Ward< no role >
a peace Officer

This Informant Elizabeth Burgess< no role > Saith That on Wednesday
the seventeenth day of March Instant a little after Eight
