Benedetto taken before me one
of his Majestys Justices of the
peace
in and for the said County
Who being upon Oath Saith that on
Saturday night last the 9th. of August inst
about Nine o Clock he was walking along
last Smithfield
in the parish of Saint John
Wapping
in the sd County when a person now
present who calls himself James Clarke< no role >
violently
pushed against him seized hold of his Cellar
and threw him down and then feloniously
took and Carried away One Silver Watch
One Metal Chain and Seals the property
of this Informt. and which he had then at the
time of this Transaction in his Waistcoat
Pocket And this Informt. further saith that
there was Second Person with the sd. Clarke when
he committed the aforesd. felony (who was a Tall
Man) and whom this Informt. Suspects and
verily believes to be the other person now
present & who calls himself Edward Coffee< no role >
and he was also riding and abetting the sd. James
Clarke< no role >
in the Offence above [..] lated but the
said John Baptiste< no role >
further upon his Oath
declares that altho he is not possitive to the
Person of Edward Coffee< no role >
yet he is so with
regard Jos James Clarke< no role >
as he never let go
of his Cellar untill he was secured by the
Officer and further that the watch Chair
and Seals now produced are this Informt
property and were by force and violence
feloniously taken and Carried away in the
manner above related and this Informt. saw
the sd. James Clarke< no role >
take the watch chain & Seals
as aforesd. from his Breeches and there them away
at the time he was secured
