One of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the Said
County this 30th Day of July 1783

Who Saith That on Tuesday the twenty
ninth Day of this Present Month of July about the Hour
of Four in the afternoon of the Same Day as he was
Coming up Black up Lane in the Parish of Tottenham
high Cross in said County he met two Men running one
of them With a Hat Box in his Hand, that presently
after he saw William Roles< no role > pursuing them who asked
this Informant Whether he had Seen two Men with a Hat
Box not [..] answered him heIhad they were just before
he askedonethis Informant with him thatwethey hollowed to them
and pursued them upon which John Marsh< no role > Dropped
the Box Containing the Hat that they took over the
Fields and were found by this Informant and
Williams Roles lying in a Ditch together
