The Information of Elizabeth Laws< no role > Daughter
of Elizabeth Laws< no role > of St. Mary Whitechapel
[..] Linnen Draper taken before me this 21 May 1782
Who on her Oath Saith That this afternoon The Prisoner
who says her name is Hannah Canter< no role > came into the
Shop of her said Motherthis afternoonwith a Young
man and a Child and asked to look at a bit of Saith
for a Body Lining. That this Informant shewed the
Prisoner Two pieces who [..] desired One Yard to
be cut off the piece of Sixteen pence [..] Yard Then
The Prisoner asked this Informant if she had any
Muslin to him Gowns who saying she had This Inform,
asked if she would have it Striped That The Prisoner
answered she did not know but on the Informant again
asking the Prisoner said YesThat this Informant went
[..] ound to the Counter on the other side of the Shop when this
Informant took out of the Counter several pieces of Striped
and Sprig Muslin and Shewed a piece of Striped Muslin which
the Prisoner said was too narrowThen The Prisoner looked
[..] at several Pieces and fixed on One which she the Prisoner
said she was fearfull the Price was too highThen the Young man
came and said this is a pretty piece and the Prisoner asked
the Price and was answered Seven Shills. a Yard when the Prisoner
asked how much it would take to trim a Gown That the Young
man stood by at the TimeThat The Piece of Muslin now
producedthatlay on the Counter when the Prisoner looked at
the other pieces That this Informant Suspecting that the
Prisoner or the Young man had taken something off the Counter in a Secret
mannerThat [..] the Prisoner, turning pale this Informant
