The Information of Anthy. Bennett< no role > of
Green Street in the Parish of Enfield in the said
County Tanner . Taken this 6th. day of May
1782 before as Two of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace in and for the said
County.

Who being upon his Oath saith that about half
past nine OClock past night being at Supper with his wife and
a Mr. Green at friend of histhea Conversation Ensued
concerning one James Innocent< no role > a Deaf and Dumb Man
who had been Servant to Informant between Three &
Four MonthsThat Informant and his wife thought
it something Strange he was not at home before that
late Hour and that his wife Observed to him his about
or dirty Linen was not in the place where it was
Usually PutThat about Ten OClock Informant
as was is Usual Custom went to the Staple to See his
Horse and when there accidentally took up a Jacket
of the said Innocents but found no other Part of
his things. That he then went to the Kiln House
Expecting to find said Innocent there which did
not prove to he the Case but found a Shirt and a
Pair of Breeches of his (lying on a Pole & on a Ledge a
Tin Cover about the Sire of Saucer in which was a Flint Keel Tinder That he then
went into the house and Examined his own Tinder
Box and there found that the Flint Steel and Tinder
had been taken thereout some Suspicion having suggested
itself to Informant concerning the Evil Intention of
the said Innocent he communicated the same to his
Wife and the said Mr Green acquainting them with
the Cause of his SuspicionThat they then all three
Went together in to the Kiln House and Examined the
Tin Cover abovementioned after which Informant
went to a Mr Pearman a Neighbour of his and
acquainted him likewise of the above Circumstances
who went with Informant to his House and saw
