The Information of Robert Claxton< no role > -taken
before me this 18th. day of October 1781.

Who being upon Oath saith that he is an
apprentice to Wm Ballard< no role > a Hatter now present [..] that
on Tuesday ye 9th. Inftt. his Mar. went out abt. 11 o Cl
in ye morning taking with him a Bill upon a Mc Leary
a Customer wch he said he wod. receive, but did not
say when he wod. Return & Inft. saw no more of
him till abt. 10 Minutes past 11 in ye Eveng.
Inft. havg. Shut up Shop abt. 8 o Cl & aftwds. went
to his Sisters & Returned just as ye Clock struck 11.
and was let in by Mrs. Crawford ye Housekeeper to
his Mar.& the only person of the Family besides
Informt. and his Mar. & she saying she was poorly
desired Inft. to sit up for his Mar. & she wod. go to
Bed wch. she did up to the Garrett.Informt.
then went down into the Kitchen to sit for his Mar.
but had scarce got down before he heard his Mar.
Knock hard& the Old Woman cod. not than be
got into Bed.Inft. ran up & let him in & he
being witht. his hot Inft. asked him where it was
hereplied he had been sitting at Mr. Monks where
he fell asleep & left it behind him& said look at
my hands see how they are blisteredInft. looked at
them & said I think they are. his Mar. replied I'll
godowne work themYou may go to Bed& look
down one of the Sconces. with a Candle in it which being
