The Information of Joseph Ferguson< no role > .-Porter
at the Somerset Coffee House taken before
me this 18th. day of October 1781

Who being upon Oath Saith that on Tuesday
Evening ye 9t. Instt. abt. ½ past 11 o ClJoseph
Ludlow< no role > . one of the Waiters told him there was a
Fire at the Hatters over ye Wayupon which
Informt. Ran over to the Housefound his hand
this one of ye pannels of the shutters & brot. a
piece away with ithe then formed the piece
this two more pannels of ye other Shutters & the
Body of Fire which then appeared to be principally
in the Shop forced its way thro; the holes Inst.
had made & Singed his Face & soon aftwds. Saw ye.
Fire had got into the Kitchen nearly as much
as the Shop and presently the whole Building was
on Fire

Saith that at the time Informt. went
over and before he broke the Pannel the Fire
was only in the Shop as appeared from the
great light thro; the Cracks. of the Shutters & ye.
Window light over ye Doorwhich appeared to
him like Blood the Body of Fire was so great
