made an experiment on the Lungs as is usual in such cases,
upon opening the Scalp, found that the Child had received a Blow on the Head
supposed while living, but it is not improbable, but such Blow Night
have been received by Accident

Henry Jarvis< no role > of Mays Buildings , St. Martins Lane in the
Parish of Saint Martin in the fields Surgeon on his Oath
saith, that last Night about Eight o'Clock, he went to see the
Deceased Child, at the request of the Church Warden of that
Parish, he being the Parish Surgeon, and hearing Mr. Thomas
a Surgeon, had been to see the Child, Deponent thought it
proper to call on Mr. Thomas to desire him to go with this
Deponent, Mr. Thomas accordingly went with Deponent,-
Deponent very Minutely Examined the whole of the Body of
the Child externally, and found no appearance of Bruises [..]
marks any where, except on the Head, proceeded to Examine
that, there was an appearance of blackness and discoloured
between the Scalp and the Skull which supposes night proceed while living, but cannot with
certainty undertake to say it was while living, next proceed
to inform himself whether the Child was Born alive, and from
according to the common mode of Experiment on the Lungs [..]
it had Breathed.
