taken before me this 24th. day of May 1781
Who being upon Oath say, and first the said Frances Scott< no role >
says, that a person now present who calls herself Sarah Howard< no role >
has
worked for her, in stitching of Stays, for several Months pastSays
that she, this day, came to this Informant and requested the use of
her Parlour, saying that she had a few friends to dine with her
to which this Informant consentedThat said Sarah Howard< no role >
went into said Parlour in order, as she told this Informant to
lay the Cloth and prepare for the Dinner, (at which time she, this
Informant is very sure that a Silver Watch now produced was
in a Mahogany Case in said Parlour) Says that in about half
an hour she went into said Parlour and the said Watch was stolen
awayAnd the said Thomas Brown< no role >
says that the said Sarah Howard< no role >
came thisInfmorning and offered the said silver Watch to pledge to
him for fifteen shillings, on which he stopped it and took her
into Custody.
