The Informations of Thomas Emes< no role > and James
Brown
< no role > taken and made on Oath before me one
of his Majesty's Justices of the peace moved for
the County of Middlesex the 5th. day of April
1781

This Informant the said Thomas Emes< no role > saith that he is
a Journeyman to Joshua Hopkins< no role > a Silk Dyer in Quaker
Street Spitalfields . That in Consequence of a Quantity of
Silk having been stolen out of the said Mr. Hopkins Dyer
house at sundry times and this Informant having Suspicious
that one Charles Holloway< no role > who was likewise a Journeyman
to Mr. Hopkins had stolen the said Silk this Informant
with one James Brown< no role > on the 4th. day of April instant
searched the said Holloway in the said Dye house and
found concealed in Holloway's Breeches seven Ounces of
raw Bollogna Silk the Property of Messrs. Adams and
Ridall which was entrusted with Mr. Hopkins to dye
That this Informant imagining that more Silk might
be concealed in Holloways House in White Bear Alley
Shoreditch he went there and found locked up in a
Box in his House, four Ounces of raw piedmont Silk
the property of Messrs. Clay and Aguster which had
been entrusted with Mr. Hopkins to dye and waste
stolen out of said Dye house.

And this Informant the said James Brown< no role > saith that
he is a Journeyman to Mr. Hopkins and that he was
present with Emes at the detecting said Holloway with
the first mentioned Silk concealed in his Breeches
